Urban Development Funding Day 2026, a driver for strong cities and municipalities

For 55 years, urban development funding has supported cities and municipalities in renewing their neighborhoods. In 2026, the federal government will provide 1 billion euros for this for the first time, and the coalition plans to gradually double the funds compared with 2025. Financially weak municipalities are to be relieved more, for example through lower own-contribution requirements or the option to count donations and sponsorship. Climate action, vacancy in inner cities, and simplified procedures for smaller municipalities are to receive greater focus in the future.
