Official title: Bill to introduce electronic location monitoring and perpetrator programmes in the Gewaltschutzgesetz (second reading)

Proposal summary
In future, judges can order an electronic ankle monitor for perpetrators of domestic violence so their location can be monitored around the clock. If a perpetrator approaches the victim despite a ban, the system triggers an alarm and the police can intervene more quickly. Courts can also require perpetrators to take part in a social training course or a violence-prevention counselling programme. The maximum penalty for breaches of protection orders will be increased to up to three years’ imprisonment.
