Waiting periods for former government members before moving into leadership roles at the Bundesrechnungshof

Anyone who has served as a Federal Minister, State Secretary, or member of a state or federal government would in future only be allowed to move into a leadership role at the Bundesrechnungshof after a waiting period of 5 years. For former Members of the Bundestag, a shorter waiting period of 2 years would apply. The Bundesrechnungshof examines whether the state spends its money properly and should be fully independent. The waiting period is intended to prevent someone from overseeing decisions in which they were previously involved.
