Reporting requirement for short-term rental platforms and more powers for the Bundesnetzagentur

Platforms such as Airbnb or Booking.com must, from 2026, provide data on short-term rentals to authorities. For this purpose, a central digital contact point will be set up at the Bundesnetzagentur, which will automatically handle data exchange between platforms, authorities, and statistical offices. The Bundesnetzagentur will also receive expanded powers to pursue discrimination in online commerce, for example when providers treat customers from certain countries worse than others.
