Proposal summary
In Germany, energy drinks should only be allowed to be sold to people aged 16 and over. Studies show that around two thirds of 14- to 18-year-olds drink energy drinks, with some consuming more than a liter at a time. The high caffeine and sugar content can strain the heart and circulatory system in children and adolescents. In addition, an awareness campaign and stricter advertising rules are to be introduced to better protect young people.
