Proposal summary
This law implements two EU rules in German law that make it easier to exchange digital evidence between EU countries in criminal proceedings. Prosecutors will be able to request or secure data directly from online services in other EU member states. For this, providers of digital services must designate an official point of contact in the EU to receive such requests. The Bundesamt für Justiz monitors compliance with these obligations in Germany.
