Proposal summary
Around 5.6 million people in Germany currently need long-term care, and by 2055 this could rise to up to 8.2 million. At the same time, there is a growing shortage of nursing staff: by 2040 an estimated 150,000 additional staff will be needed. Nursing professionals should therefore be able to carry out certain tasks independently in future that previously only doctors were allowed to do. The aim is also to reduce bureaucracy in nursing care, strengthen local cooperation and expand prevention.
