Proposal summary
Germany is implementing an EU directive intended to speed up the expansion of renewable energy. To do this, certain offshore areas will be designated as acceleration areas, where wind farms can be approved more quickly and with less bureaucracy. Expanding onshore power grids will also be made easier by defining infrastructure areas where extensive environmental assessments will not apply. This is expected to reduce bureaucracy costs for companies by around 21.9 million euros per year.
