The law modernizes the rules for security screenings of people in Germany who have access to classified information or work in sensitive positions. The screenings are to become more digital, for example through online research and automated database queries. Protection against sabotage at important state facilities will also be expanded. In addition, the law introduces a new rule for civil servants: when processing Beihilfe claims (state reimbursements for health costs), claims may be deemed approved under certain conditions if they cannot be processed in time.
