Gesetz zur Stärkung der Militärischen Sicherheit in der Bundeswehr

The Militärischer Abschirmdienst (MAD) will receive new and clearer rules so it can better protect the Bundeswehr from espionage, sabotage, and extremism. In future, soldiers and civilian staff will undergo more thorough checks before being hired. Under stricter conditions, the MAD will be allowed to use more surveillance measures, for example phone tapping or undercover investigators. At the same time, independent oversight mechanisms will be introduced to safeguard fundamental rights.
