Permanently reduce electricity tax to the EU minimum (AfD)
·AfD13.11.2025
Rejected
Proposal summary
Industrial companies as well as agriculture and forestry pay a permanently reduced electricity tax rate, namely the legally required EU minimum rate of 0.05 cents per kilowatt-hour. Without this change, the previous relief would have ended in January 2026, which would have noticeably increased electricity costs for these businesses. In addition, new rules are introduced for charging electric cars: in future, the operator of the charging station is liable for the tax, not the individual driver. Double taxation is excluded for the temporary storage of electricity (for example in battery storage systems). The law is also updated to reflect current EU requirements.
