Classification of economic activities: NACE Revision 2.1

Germany is updating its statistical laws to align with a new European system for classifying economic sectors, known as NACE Revision 2.1. This system defines how companies are assigned to industries so that statistics are comparable across Europe. The new classification will be introduced step by step from 2025 to 2030 and will replace the version in force since 2008. Overall, the law reduces annual bureaucracy costs for businesses by around 2.2 million euros.
