Proposal summary
On 24 October 2024, Germany and India concluded a treaty that improves cooperation between the two countries in criminal prosecution. Until now, both states assisted each other on a voluntary basis without fixed rules. The treaty now sets out clear, binding procedures, for example for transmitting evidence, questioning witnesses, or tracing assets from criminal offenses. To implement the treaty in German law, the Bundestag must pass an act of approval.
