Child tax-free allowance per child and tax exemption for large families
Official title: Expand joint taxation for spouses into comprehensive family support (AfD)
路AfD06.11.2025
Rejected
Proposal summary
Families with children would pay significantly less tax in the future. The current system of joint taxation for spouses would be expanded: for each child in the household, a separate basic allowance (Grundfreibetrag) would be deducted from taxable income before the tax is calculated. Families from the third child onward would pay no income tax at all up to a gross annual income of 85,000 euros. Child benefit (Kindergeld) would additionally remain in place and would not be offset against the tax savings. Single parents would also benefit from the new rule.
