Proposal summary
Qualified nursing professionals would be allowed to carry out certain medical treatments independently in the future, without a doctor first having to make a diagnosis. They would also be able to prescribe home nursing care directly. The costs for such services would be covered by the health insurance funds, not by long-term care insurance, which is often capped. In addition, a Federal Government Commissioner for nursing care would be established in law, and funding for volunteer care structures would increase from 25 to 60 million euros per year. Quality inspections in care facilities would continue to be announced at short notice.
