Proposal summary

Germany approves a trade agreement between the European Union and Ghana that was signed in 2016. The agreement guarantees Ghana duty-free and quota-free access to the EU market. In return, Ghana will gradually open its own market to goods from the EU. By 2029, Ghana is to dismantle around 78 percent of its tariff lines for EU imports. The agreement is considered a transitional solution until a broader trade agreement with all of West Africa enters into force.
