Against the Bau-Turbo law, calling for cheaper building regulations

Official title: AfD motion for a resolution on housing construction
·AfD09.10.2025
Rejected
Proposal summary

According to the motion, Germany is experiencing the worst housing shortage in 70 years. In 2024, only 216,000 homes were completed, although around 373,000 would be needed each year. The planned law to speed up housing construction, the so-called Bau-Turbo, is rejected because it would not solve the crisis and would weaken municipalities’ say in urban planning. Instead, building is to become cheaper, through lower energy requirements, the removal of certain taxes, and the repeal of the Gebäudeenergiegesetz.
