Faster housing construction and extended tenant protections

Many German cities lack affordable housing. The law is intended to make building new housing significantly faster and easier by giving municipalities more leeway when approving construction projects. Existing protection rules for tenants will also be extended by five years. More housing is intended to help ensure that rents do not continue to rise as sharply.
