Lower the electricity tax to the EU minimum and abolish special rules
Official title: Greens bill to amend electricity tax
Rejected
Proposal summary
The electricity tax is to be reduced for all consumers to the lowest level permitted by European rules. For private households, that would mean 1 euro per megawatt-hour, and for businesses 0.50 euros per megawatt-hour, significantly less than before. Overall, consumers would be relieved by around 6 billion euros per year. At the same time, many existing special rules and exemptions in tax law would be eliminated, making the law simpler.
