Bundeswehr deployment against the “Islamic State”

The Bundeswehr may continue its deployment in Iraq until 31 January 2027. The aim is to prevent the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) from regaining strength and to continue training the Iraqi armed forces. Up to 500 soldiers can be deployed. The costs for this period are expected to be around 109 million euros.
