Proposal summary
In 2026, the state will pay a total of €6.5 billion to the four major electricity grid operators that run Germany’s high-voltage network. This money is intended to reduce the costs that these operators pass on to consumers and businesses through grid charges. That is meant to lower electricity bills for everyone, because lower grid charges mean cheaper electricity. The money comes from the Federal Government’s Climate and Transformation Fund.
