Bundeswehr deployment in the Mediterranean “Sea Guardian”

The Bundeswehr is to continue taking part in the NATO Mediterranean surveillance mission Sea Guardian. Up to 550 soldiers may be deployed to inspect ships, combat weapons smuggling and monitor the security situation in the Mediterranean. The mandate runs until 30 November 2026 and costs around €0.8 million.
