Proposal summary
The Bundeswehr is to continue taking part in the EU naval operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI in the Mediterranean. The main task is to enforce the UN arms embargo against Libya: ships are monitored, inspected and redirected if smuggling is suspected. The operation also combats smuggling networks and monitors illegal oil exports. Up to 300 soldiers may be deployed, the mission is limited until 30 November 2026, and it is expected to cost around €21.7 million.
