Bill to remove the consequences of climate policy
Rejected
Proposal summary
Germany is to withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Agreement. Key laws of the energy transition are to be repealed: the Renewable Energy Sources Act, the Federal Climate Protection Act, the Building Energy Act, and the Coal Phase-out Act. The state emissions trading system for greenhouse gases, which the bill says cost the economy around EUR 18.5 billion in 2024, would be discontinued. The Atomic Energy Act would be amended to allow and promote the use of nuclear energy again.
