Proposal summary
Since 2024, farmers in Germany have been paying more for diesel because a state refund has been phased out. This refund is to be reintroduced: 21.48 cents per liter of agricultural diesel, retroactive from 1 January 2024. In addition, the CO₂ levy on diesel for agriculture is to be abolished. This is intended to relieve especially small and medium-sized farms and secure their competitiveness compared with farmers in other EU countries.
