Proposal summary
The Bundeswehr is to continue participating in the EU naval operation EUNAVFOR ASPIDES in the Red Sea. The aim is to protect commercial vessels from attacks by the Yemeni Houthi militia and ensure freedom of navigation. Up to 350 soldiers can be deployed, including with a reconnaissance aircraft and staff personnel. The mandate runs until 31 October 2026 and is expected to cost around 23.9 million euros.
