A parliamentary committee of inquiry is to be set up to retrospectively review the Federal Government’s measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting on 1 August 2019. It would examine whether lockdowns and other restrictions were proportionate, whether statistics on infections and deaths were recorded correctly, and how the approval process for vaccines proceeded. The committee would also clarify what economic and health-related damage occurred, especially for children and young people. Finally, it would develop recommendations on how Germany can be better prepared for future pandemics.
