Bill on repurposing railway land

Many old railway sites that are no longer used for rail operations can currently hardly be released for other purposes such as housing construction. This is due to a legal change from late 2023 that set the hurdles for such a release very high. The new law is intended to correct this: if a property is needed neither now nor in the foreseeable future for railway operations, repurposing should once again be possible. At the same time, sites where a discontinued rail line could be reactivated are to remain protected.
